The Speech Station team strives to provide patient centered care in the speech, language, feeding, myofunctional and occupational therapy evaluations and therapy services at The Speech Station. The team strives to meet each patient where they are at currently and plan functional, achievable and fun therapy sessions!

Gretchen Findlay, M.A., CCC-SLP, COM®

Owner, Speech-Language Pathologist, Certified Orofacial Myologist

Gretchen received her Bachelor’s of Science and Master's of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology from Western Michigan University. She also holds an elementary teaching certificate for grades Kindergarten through fifth grade. 

 

Bringing fifteen years of experience from a variety of workplace settings, Gretchen strives to provide effective functional therapy. Part of serving her clients is thinking outside the box to deliver individualized and motivating therapy. Her positive, friendly and open personality allows her to connect with her clients to build trusting relationships. She is dedicated to building a collaborative relationship with her clients, their families and other professionals on the team (physicians, dentists, teachers, caregivers, etc.)

 

Gretchen specializes in treating toddlers through adults with articulation disorders, language delay/disorders, late talkers, childhood apraxia of speech, fluency disorders and orofacial myology disorders (OMD), and feeding disorders. Gretchen has advanced training in orofacial myology, pediatric feeding disorders, and oral facial development. She is passionate about myofunctional therapy and the positive impact it has on feeding and speech skills. 

 

In her free time, Gretchen can be found spending time with her husband and children, walking her dog and sipping a fresh cup of coffee. She loves watching college football and hockey, reading, gardening and staying active.

Gretchen Findlay, MA, CCC-SLP

Gretchen received her bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology at Western Michigan University and her master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology at Western Michigan University.  Gretchen brings over 13 years of experience to The Speech Station as a speech-language pathologist. Her collaborative and client-centered therapy style comes from her experience in the school setting, serving children from preschool through high school, and in the private practice setting working with children and adults. 

 

Gretchen believes communication is key to quality of life. Part of serving her clients is thinking outside of the box to deliver individualized and motivating therapy. Emily Barton-Maher, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Emily received her Bachelor’s degree in English and Spanish from the University of Notre Dame and her Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Fontbonne University. She specializes in treating pediatric language disorders and in providing therapy for children and adults who stutter. Emily is a Hanen certified instructor for the It Takes Two to Talk program. 

 

Outside of spending time with her clients, Emily enjoys swimming, hiking and traveling with her husband and two kids.

Jen Kopp, BHS, RDH

Myofunctional Therapist

Jen has been a dental hygienist since 2010.  She graduated from Lake Land College in Mattoon, IL with her Associates degree in Applied Sciences, emphasis in Dental Hygiene. She later finished her Bachelor’s degree in Health Science from Missouri Southern State University in 2012.  She worked in a private practice in the dental office she grew up going to as a child in Springfield, Missouri for eight years. She has also worked in the public health sector at a health department providing teledentistry preventative services in a school-based program and at a health clinic in St. Louis serving those that live with HIV. Jen also serves her professional dental hygiene association at the state level holding various board positions. 

 

Jen became interested in Orofacial Myology when she discovered her own airway issues. She is passionate about helping people live a healthier life through proper nasal breathing. Jen brings an unique perspective to the Speech Station, being a dental professional working in a speech pathology setting. It is this exciting blend of knowledge that she will bring to her patients. Jen loves to share what she knows and is usually found smiling or laughing.

 

Jen enjoys spending time with her wife and many pets, two dogs and four cats! She is a big hockey, football and baseball fan. She enjoys traveling and collecting books she fully intends to read one day. She looks forward to meeting you and your family!

Liz Gorsuch, M.S., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Liz received a Bachelor of Health Science in Communication Science and Disorders from the University Of Missouri-Columbia and a Master of Science in Speech Pathology & Audiology from the University of Central Missouri. Liz brings over ten years of experience to The Speech Station as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Liz specializes in articulation and language disorders, augmentative communication, speech and language therapy for clients with physically health-impaired diagnoses, and is trained in Myofunctional Therapy. 

In her free time, Liz can be found cooking, reading, exercising, watching youth basketball and lacrosse games, and spending time with her husband and two children.

Marci Texier Teitlbaum, OTR/L

Occupational Therapist

Marci received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from St. Louis University and her Master’s degree in Management and Leadership from Webster University.  Marci started her post-secondary education at the University of Kansas. 

 

Marci brings over twenty years of experience to The Speech Station as an Occupational Therapist.  She specializes in pediatrics, having worked in the school setting for sixteen years, Marci has developed a passion and ability to work with children and families from birth-high school.  She finds it especially important to focus on children’s development and support each child in reaching their potential by providing strategies, building on their functional skills and abilities, and collaborating with the family and other professionals involved in the child’s life. Marci’s positive, friendly, and compassionate personality provide a fun and welcoming environment for her clients and their families.

In her free time, Marci can be found playing with her son Quinn, working out, gardening, shopping or spending time with family and friends.

Nikki Heveroh, M.A., CCC-SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist

Nikki earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in 2018 at Truman State University and continued there for her graduate coursework.  In 2020 she graduated with her Master's of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology and began her career at The Speech Station in July of 2020.

 

Nikki's extended her expertise by taking over fifty hours of continuing education courses in orofacial myology disorders and pediatric feeding disorders.  Nikki's driven to provide practice loaded therapy sessions because she wants to see the people she treats make progress with their goals.

 

Nikki is a coffee lover, swimmer, and outside of work enjoys spending time with her husband Sam and dog Izzy.  

Renee Schwyhart, B.S., RDH, COM®

Certified Orofacial Myologist

Renee Schwyhart earned her Associate of Science degree in Dental Hygiene at Missouri Southern State College and her Bachelor’s degree in Oral Health Sciences at O’Heir University.  Renee advanced her career in myofunctional therapy when she became a Certified Orofacial Myologist from The International Association of Orofacial Myology in 2014. Renee brings over forty two years of experience to The Speech Station as a Registered Dental Hygienist. 

 

In her free time, Renee can be found gardening and spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Chloe.

Erin Mayer

Clinic Coordinator

Erin received her Bachelor of Science from Truman State University and her Master's of Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting from Lindenwood University.

 

Erin started her career in public accounting, helping businesses meet both their accounting and tax needs. Erin moved into roles in international finance and tax at Fortune 50 companies. She brings to The Speech Station an understanding of business processes and enjoys helping organize day to day operations. 

 

In her free time, Erin can be found running, reading and spending time outdoors with her husband and two children.
